Second Seed Stumbles but Second Place Assures Progress to Second Stage

Chinese Taipei Lee Chia-Sheng was the notable name to experience defeat in the first stage of proceedings at the Nikon Hong Kong Junior and Cadet Open on the third day of play, Friday 17th August 2012.
The second seed, he was beaten in five games by China zhang Jiete (8-11, 11-4, 11-8, 4-11, 11-7). However, it is not the end of the road for the 17 year old; the players finishing in first and second places in each group qualified for the main draw.
In his opening match of the day Lee Chia-Sheng accounted for Malaysia Leong Chee Feng (11-7, 11-6, 11-7) and thus secured second place in the group. Top place in the group went to Zhang Jiete.
He concluded his first stage matches with victory over the luckless Leong Chee Feng (11-9, 11-8, 11-6).
First Place for Leading Names
Otherwise for the leading names it was first place in their respective groups and places in the main draw.
China Liang Jingkun, a semi-finalist one year ago in Hong Kong and the top seed, duly finished in first place in his group as did the host association
